The real reason behind the series split…
I believe the true reason behind the series 6 split is this; yes Moffat is creating a huge cliffhanger… but I’m betting he will want to continue on having it split for series 7 (which Matt has said he is returning for by the way) and series 8 as well. Now, series seven would just be a normal series, nothing really special… but for series 8, it will air in 2013… 50 years since the original airing of Doctor Who. Now, I’m just spitballing here, and it’s a very very far off guess, but I think that Moffat may be planning to have half of series 8 in the spring of 2013, then continue the second half in the autumn. The final episode will finish on 23rd November 2013 (23rd November being the date that it originally aired) and that is a Saturday! Plus, we know how Steven likes to connect the real life dates with the in-story dates, like 26th June 2010 in The Big Bang. Thoughts?
